(UPDATE: 2:00 p.m.) - The evacuation orders put in place for the Township of Spallumcheen on Thursday have been rescinded.
The evacuations were due to the Hutley Road wildfire, which sparked on Thursday as well.
The fire is at 4.3 hectares in size, but is being held and has not breached any fire lines.
Hutley Road South remains closed to all traffic, while Hutley Road North and Head Road are for local traffic only.
(UPDATE: August 11th @ 10:00 a.m.) - The Hutley Road fire, burning in Spallumcheen just north of Vernon, is now being held.
It grew overnight, from 2.5 hectares to 3.9 hectares, but it's now under control, according to Max Birkner from the BC Wildfire Service.
There are six firefighters still dealing with the blaze, along with fire crews from Armstrong, while a pair of origin cause personnel are on scene as well.
(UPDATE: 6:15 p.m.) - The 2.5 hectare wildfire burning on the east side of Highway 97A north of Vernon in Spallumcheen has prompted an evacuation alert.
So far no structures are nearby the flames but the Township of Spallumcheen is issuing an Evacuation Alert.
Hutley and Head roads are closed to non-residential traffic.
The Alert means homes in these areas should be ready to leave with little notice:

- Eagle Rock Mobile Home Park
- Belva’s Mobile Home Park
- Meadow Ridge Mobile Home Park
- McLennan Road
- Keddleston Road
An Emergency Operations Centre has been opened at the Municipal office at 4144 Spallumcheen Way.
(Update 5:30 p.m.) - The wildfire burning in Spallumcheen's Patterson Creek area four km's north of Vernon has now grown to 2.5 hectares in size.
BC Wildfire crews are on site alongside the Armstrong Fire Department with two helicopters and air tanker support.
The fire is not threatening any structures at this time but smoke is visible from Highway 97.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A wildfire that started just after 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon continues to burn just north of Vernon in Spallumcheen close to the Highway 97A/Hutley Road interchange.
According to the Kamloops Fire Centre, an air tanker has been requested and wildfire crews are already on site.
The wildfire is reportedly under a hectare in size at this time.
Smoke is currently visible from Highway 97 but the highway remains open at this time.
