On Saturday, April 1, 2017, the Chamber Music Kelowna Society is hosting a free educational outreach program for students and adults who want to learn more about the many different aspects of music. The program is entitled a Musical Journey Around the World and will host featured artists Imani Winds, who will help to teach attendees.
The outreach program will be held at the Mary Irwin Theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, with doors opening at 12:30 pm.
The group will perform and discuss various pieces and musical styles throughout the demonstration. From 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. the public will have the opportunity to experience this awarding winning chamber ensemble up close and personal.
Imani Winds has established itself as one of the most successful chamber music ensembles in the U.S. and since the late 90’s the grammy nominated group have been making a name for themselves with their immaculate instrumentation, dynamic playing, adventurous collaborations and inspiring outreach programs, much like the one being hosted.
At 7:30 p.m. and evening concert will be held at the Mary Irwin Theatre. The program, entitled Tradition and the Innovative, will feature a number of classical works including the Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Felix Mendelssohn, Carl Nielsen’s Prelude, Theme and Variations from Wind Quintet, Op. 43, and many more stunning pieces.
