If you're like many other people in Kelowna, the weekend for you is all about enjoying the city at your own leisurely pace. Maybe you’ll head to a new to you local restaurant, support our small business owners or check out a fun community event. No matter what you may get up to, Kelowna always has something fun to do on your days off.

If you want to get out and about this weekend but aren't sure where to start, here is a list of great things we think you should check out on your weekend excursions.

Gypsy Soul Grand Opening

A Kelowna staple is reopening its doors in a brand new location this Thursday!

The ever popular bohemian dream store, Gypsy Soul has moved to 1562 Pandosy St. From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. you can sip on wine while you shop through their latest collection. 

Slurpee lovers rejoice!

If you had the misfortune of missing out on Fill Your Own Cup Day hosted by 7-Eleven back in March, the chance to redeem yourself will be here this Friday!

Grab your most interesting vessel and fill it to the brim with all the colorful icy goodness a Slurpee offers. There are some regulations to follow so check out our earlier article for more information, to optimize your slurpee experience.

May Days

The event that children and adults alike look forward to all year returns this weekend! Rutland May Days its back for its 58th annual year, and with it comes all of your favorite activities. Thrilling rides, fun games, delicious carnival treats and a parade make this weekend sure to be action packed. All the fun starts at 3 p.m. on Friday and goes on until 5 p.m. on Sunday!

This year all the fun will be happening in Centennial Park. The Parade will kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning and will start on Hartman Road and end at the park.

Knox Mountain Hill Climb

Yet another highly anticipated event, the Knox Mountain Hill climb is back this Saturday and Sunday. For its 60th year, the event is shaping to be it’s biggest yet with faster cars and more drivers.

Head to the beautiful Knox Mountain Park to see drivers compete for the title of “King of the hill.” Races begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Kelowna Kennel Dog Show

Who doesn’t love dogs? If you’re a fan of these sweet, four-legged animals with hearts of gold, then you better make some room in your schedule this weekend to attend the Kelowna Kennel Club Dog Show.

With pups of all ages and breeds showing off how well trained, behaved and adorable they are, you can’t go wrong with checking this event out. It all kicks off this Saturday at 9 a.m. at Mission Recreation Park.

Peachland Car Show

If you're a lover of all things cars and great Okanagan scenery then head down to Peachland to see what they have in store for their 20th annual World Of Wheels car show.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday you can spend the day oohing and awwing at cars from all makes, models and decades.

Keep in mind

To mark Victoria Day, City Hall will be closed Monday, May 22, the Glenmore Landfill will be open its regular hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.  and Parkinson Recreation Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
