Kelowna’s sixth annual Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope took over Mission Creek Park on Sunday morning, welcoming dozens of supporters.
The event is hosted as a way to raise funds and awareness for Ovarian Cancer, one of the most underfunded cancers today, as well as to educate women around the country about the disease.
Taking place in nearly 40 communities across Canada, bolstering the powerful message and welcoming participants from all walks of life who have been affected by Ovarian cancer in some form or another.
Special guests of Sunday’s event included cancer survivor, Andrea Finamore.
Finamore spoke of her recurring battle with Ovarian cancer, her ongoing struggles in relation to it and her uplifting support system, offering those in attendance a deeper look into the broad effects of the disease.
Nearly at their goal of $22,000, the event has already raised $19,210 through online fundraising, all of which will go directly to programs for women affected by ovarian cancer, education initiatives and vital research for finding a cure.
Not only did the walk of solidarity provide a great fundraising opportunity, but allowed attendees to network, strengthening our city’s own support group for those affected.
An event powered by passion, The annual Walk of Hope brought attendees smiles, inspiration and hope in abundance.
