The East Kelowna Community Artisan Market hosted its last event of the summer season this Sunday afternoon.
The weekly recurring market highlights local artisans in a cozy environment with a new and exciting theme each week.
As today marks National Dog Day, the market welcomed attendees and their furry friends all the while supporting the BCSPCA Kelowna branch.
After a busy season, the market is taking a brief break over Labour Day weekend before returning for the fall season which ramps up on Sept. 9 and runs until Oct. 28, with two additional Christmas markets on Nov. 18 and 25.
Though Kelowna is known for its thriving farmers and crafters markets, co-coordinator, Bree Kennedy, says there's something particularly special about theirs.
“The space is so special, we are inside a like 100-year-old hall, it has a totally different vibe than the other markets, it feels like a cozy little home where everyone hangs out together,” says Kennedy.
If you missed out on the final fling of summer, you can still anticipate seeing all the wonderful vendors throughout the fall, as the quaint market boasts 40 vendors a week off a rotating roaster of 100.
With a focus on sustainable and organic products, you can not only feel good about supporting local but helping our environment.
“Things are a little bit more expensive, but they’re quality, handmade, and not pumped out factory-style — they are really made with love,” added Kennedy.
From fresh produce along with gluten-free and vegan-friendly snacks, to handmade jewellery, art and even samples from local wineries, you can find all you’re after and more.
