Sing some carols, ride Santa’s sleigh bus and get into the Christmas spirit this holiday season at Uptown Rutland Business Association’s Christmas Light Up, presented by Valley First!
Uptown Rutland Business Association (URBA) has an entire evening of festive activities planned for this year’s event, which will be taking place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10th.
The festivities kick off at Willow Park Shopping Centre at 3:00 p.m. where the R.S.S choir will congregate before making their way up Highway 33 to Roxby Square.
Hot chocolate and coffee will be available at Willow Park, as well as the chance to catch a ride to Roxby Square on Santa's sleigh bus! For the chance to win a seat, just fill out one of the ballots that will be handed out by volunteers at the shopping centre.
The official light up will commence at 4:30 p.m. at Roxby Square, where you'll be able to meet some very important guests: The Kelowna Chiefs and Santa Claus himself!
There’ll be fun for the whole family with snow art, carols and a scrimmage with the Chiefs. Plus, to make sure everyone stays warm, The Salvation Army will be serving chili.
After the lights are turned on, the celebration continues at Plaza 33 with a variety of craft tables, face painting provided by the Valley First Community Crew and a very special reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.' We'll give you a hint - the man who'll be reading has a big beard and an even bigger belly!
Thanks to URBA's community-minded sponsors, the light up event is free of charge, so there's no reason not to bring the whole family down for an evening of fun!
The association just asks that attendees bring an item of non-perishable food for The Salvation Army, remember to shop local and support the businesses in Rutland this holiday season and above all, have fun!
