One of the city's most highly anticipated golf tournaments is back!

The YMCA of the Okanagan will be the charity benefitting from the 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on July 22, 2019 at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club.

The annual golf tournament attracts golfers from across B.C. to bust out the clubs and support a worthwhile cause. It's a full 18-hole round of golf that includes lunch, dinner and amazing prizes!

Once again, this annual KGCC golf tournament will be raising funds to support the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign to aid low-income families and give them equal opportunities to live healthy lives.

According to the event co-chair Alli McNeill, 89% of children and youth are not getting the recommended 60 minutes of daily exercise, a statistic that the YMCA works hard to reduce.

Children and youth in need can access Y financial assistance, made possible by donations to the YMCA, to access a membership, and count on a daily healthy snack in the Y childcare programs and benefit in a number of ways to get active.

To bolster the Y programs already helpful initiatives and to aid in the start-up of new ones, the event will donate 100% of the proceeds from registration and the onsite auction to the cause.

"Personally, I love the model the Y uses in the sense that all the funds raised will go towards these programs and services, skipping out on administrative costs — it makes me happy to be the co-chair," said McNeill.

Last year, the golf tournament raised over $60,000 to support the program, aiding 5,471 individuals low-income individuals, children and families.

For the 10th anniversary, organizers are hoping to go even bigger with their ultimate fundraising goal set to $75,000. They are on par to make it happen!

Already sold out, the tournament is at capacity with 144 lucky golfers set to support local youth while enjoying a day with the KGCC which is one of the loveliest golf courses in the region — a timeless combination of fun and philanthropy!

"The community has been so supportive of this event so far by volunteering, sponsoring, donating items to auction and registering to play — it has been great to see," added McNeill.

If you missed out on registration, there are still a few ways to help out. Tickets to the dinner banquet are still available for those looking to dine and bid on some big-ticket auction items from beloved local wineries and local companies.

You can also make a monetary donation online or sponsor a hole.
