If you love corn on the cob, you’re not going to want to miss out on the Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Satellite Market this Sunday.

After a busy summer of fruit and veggie themed festivals at both locations, the St. Paul market is close to wrapping up their outdoor season, but not before they highlight the golden goodness of sweet BC corn.

“It is really important for us to be able to highlight all of the vendors and the different varieties of fruit and veggies we host at the market, and by having these festivals, we are really able to,” said Aimee Bailey, staff member at the Dilworth location.

At the event, attendees will not only be able to sample tidbits of different varietals like peaches and cream, white corn and the classic yellow, or purchase a full cob of it slathered in butter.

“Once people taste it, they can find their favourite right here at the market, which is pretty cool,” said Bailey.

Another cool aspect of the corn festival is the fact that the proceeds raised from the cob sales go toward the market’s coupon program. The program provides low-income families and seniors with coupons they can use towards their market purchases of fresh produce, dairy and meat.

Though the market may have multiple vendors selling what you might think is your typical corn husks, Bailey says it's important to note they are all special.

“We have a wide variety of vendors from all across the Okanaga. We may have five different vendors selling corn, but every single one of them has their own way of doing it, own types of varieties, and own special story to tell.”

If you missed out on the fun at today’s market, make sure you swing by the St. Paul market between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.. You can expect a ton of corn-themed fun for the whole family!
