On Friday evening the Laurel Packing House was transformed to a venue fit for Hollywood's biggest stars, as the Mamas for Mamas "Oscars through the Ages" Gala took place.

The sold-out fundraiser welcomed Kelowna socialites to "party with a purpose" and help the local organization raise funds for vital programming.

Funds from the event will go toward supporting the charity's biggest initiative, The Mamas at Risk Comprehensive program, which supports mothers and families in crisis, who may be facing homelessness and poverty-related issues.

The black tie, red carpet affair boasted blockbuster themed entertainment, food and some amazing surprises — including a performance from country star, Aaron Pritchett.

Through the online auction, live auction and the generosity of local donors, Mamas for Mamas was able to not only meet their fundraising goal of $125,000, but exceed it, raising an estimated $150,000.

"I am absolutely blown away and humbled by the generous supporters we have here in our community!" said Shannon Christensen, Executive Director of Mamas for Mamas.

"The funds we raised last night will allow us to continue stepping up and raising the bar on how we support those fighting their way out of poverty and into a world of possibility."
