Okanagan based pet rescue, Paws It Forward, is teaming up with Kelowna pet store, Total Pet, to host an Adopt-A-Thon this afternoon.

The event comes shortly after the non-profit rescue welcomed nearly 50 dogs and puppies from a shelter in Manitoba over the holidays.

Despite opening the doors at 11 a.m., eager adopters lined the aisles of the pet store ready to meet their new potential additions nearly  30 minutes early.

Attendees have the opportunity to pet, and snuggle five adorable pups in addition to meeting senior poodle, Bailey, who is also ready for his 'Furever home.'

An added bonus of the adoption event is the opportunity to chat with the Paws It Forward volunteers to apply in person for adoption eligibility.

Though only six dogs will be onsite at Total Pet, the volunteers have also posted photos of other available pets in their care, in addition to a number of stories already shared on their Facebook.

Paws It Forward has been rescuing pets for the last seven and a half years, providing care, housing and love until they are able to find their new homes. The Adopt-A-Thon is on until 3 p.m. today at 1985 Harvey Ave.
