The Uptown Rutland Business Association's Annual Light Up dazzled locals on Sunday evening in Roxby Square.

Known for great community spirit and family-fun in abundance, the event has become a tradition for families in the Rutland area to ring in the holiday season.

From live caroling courtesy of the Rutland Secondary School Choir, street hockey with the Kelowna Chiefs to free chili, hot chocolate and cookies, there was no shortage of things to see and enjoy.

No holiday event is complete without a visit from the man in red, and this year he rode in style. Showing up to greet the eager little ones followed by a parade of brightly decorated sponsor vehicles — Santa traded in his sleigh for a festive bus.

Following an excited countdown from ten, the fluffy tree beamed with Christmas cheer, twinkling lights and festive decorations.

Post light up, attendees ventured on to Plaza 33 for crafts, cookie decorating, a story from Santa and more holly jolly fun.
