When I say bar - I don't mean any of the following: nightclub, lounge, or pub. I legitimately mean, pulling up a stool at a bar, in an established and well respected restaurant or wine bar.

There's something about sitting at the bar that's so enticing. I've met some of the most interesting people while dining alone, from making friends with bartenders to becoming close friends with random strangers I just happened to sit next to.

Next time you're in the mood to grab a bite - consider sitting at the bar instead. It's a great way to take in all the action, people watch, and interact with other humans you may have otherwise never met. Singles - it's also a great way to meet potential mates.

Waterfront Wines

Widely known as one of the best spots in the Okanagan, and for good reason. The service is always spot on and the food is impeccable with a wine list to match. Expect to meet the likes of winemakers, sommeliers and other wine industry royalty when you hang out here.

They also feature one or two wineries each week, giving patrons an opportunity to try a variety of great producers from throughout BC.

Raudz

You could go here for only one reason: the wine list curated by Wes Hunter.

You could also go for the ambience, and the never ending rotation of expertly made cocktails by their talented bartenders.

Krafty

The best part about sitting "at the wood" at Krafty is an unobstructed view of the kitchen and bar.

You'll have full access to the inner workings of a highly successful and smoothly run restaurant - they make it look effortless. Their playlists are always spot on too.

Quail's Gate

Sure, you could dine on their magical terrace overlooking Okanagan lake, framed by stunning vineyards.

Or, you could sit up at the bar, and get to know the staff and other regular patrons who could regale crazy stories on the history of Quail's Gate - one of the Okanagan's oldest wineries.
