Advance voting has been completed for Regional District elections.

This Saturday is General Voting Day for Regional District and School Trustee elections in the electoral areas.

In the two advance voting days, 155 people cast ballots in the election for a Central Okanagan West Electoral Area Regional Board Director and Zone 2 School District No. 23 Trustee.   That compares with 225 advance votes in the 2014 election.

Residents are encouraged to get out to the polls, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Central Okanagan West voters can cast ballots in elections for a Regional Board Director and Zone 2 School District No. 23 Trustee while those in Central Okanagan East are eligible to vote for their Zone 1 School District No. 23 Trustee to represent them on the School Board.

There are two voting locations in Central Okanagan West.   Qualified voters may cast a ballot for their regional board representative and Zone 2 school trustee at either Constable Neil Bruce Middle School (2010 Daimler Drive) or the Killiney Beach Community Hall, (518 Udell Road in Killiney Beach).  Those people who live on Westbank First Nation Reserves #9 and #10 are eligible to vote in the Central Okanagan West elections.

Voters in the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area may vote for their school trustee at the Ellison Community Hall (4411 Old Vernon Road, Joe Rich Community Hall (11481 Highway 33 east) or the Goudie Road fire hall (6550 Goudie Road).

Voters must bring along two pieces of acceptable identification that proves their current residence and who they are and one must have a signature on it.  Qualified voters must be at least 18 years of age on the date that they vote; a Canadian Citizen, a resident of British Columbia for six months prior to voting and a resident of their Electoral Area for at least 30 days before voting.

Non-resident electors must have owned property in the electoral area for at least 30 days prior to voting and must also complete a consent form signed by the majority of the owners of the property.

Anyone in the electoral areas that is voting by mail must return their completed ballots to the Chief Election Officer prior to the close of voting at 8 p.m. on Saturday in order to be counted.
