The victim’s family has been notified and is receiving support through RCMP victim services, while the BC Coroners Service has taken over the file.

There is no criminal investigation into the man’s death.

“Unfortunately the Central Okanagan has had several drowning deaths this summer which shocks and saddens all of us,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera.

“Two-thirds of drowning victims know how to swim. Accidents can happen anytime and they can happen to you. Be prepared, be aware and keep your PDF on at all times whenever you are on the water.”

Police thanked Central Okanagan Search and Rescue and the RCMP dive team for their hard work over four days during this tough situation.
