A boil water notice has been issued in Lake Country.
All customers on the Okanagan Lake Source have been warned to either boil their water or find a safe alternative.
The warning comes after a water main break.
It will remain in effect until next week, the District of Lake Country and Interior Health explained.
Officials said they were “endeavoring to rectify this situation as quickly as possible”.
“Water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute,” the district explained.
“Boiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container. Customers could also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device.”
Owners of public facilities must also post notices on sinks and fountains.
