Lake Country dogs have been spoiled for too long and it’s time for the cats to take over.
That’s the message from local felines, at least according to Lake Country Art Gallery curator Wanda Lock, and we’ll have to take her word for it.
“A cat named Robin, who lives in Okanagan Centre, says although there is a charming dog park along the shores of Okanagan Lake not far from her home, there are no safe spaces for her and other cats to roam and explore, climb a tree or just bathe in the sunshine,” Lock explained.
“It is time for cats to unite and demand city council takes a serious look at the lack of cat services.”
Lock says that public art galleries like the one in Lake Country provide spaces for public forums and debates, and the “plight of cats” is no exception.
“The Lake Country Art Gallery is taking up the cause and examining this important feline plight, she added. “Show your support for the cats of Lake Country by participating in the Lake Country Art Gallery's upcoming exhibition, Cattywampus.”
That’s right, this is your chance to have your adorable feline friend featured as part of a community exhibition at the Lake Country Art Gallery.
Anyone who wants to confirm participation and make submissions to Lock through email.
Cattywampus will then be up and on display at the gallery from June 24 until July 16.
In addition, the gallery will partner with the Okanagan Humane Society on Sunday, June 25, for a day of cats and kittens that are looking for a forever home, just in case you were thinking about adopting.
It will double as a bake sale, with an amazing selection of cat-inspired edibles for sale to raise funds for the Lake Country Art Gallery.
