There have been yet more victims of a fake gold scam in the Okanagan.
This one happened in Lake Country – in a parking lot along Oceola Road – on Oct. 7.
Mounties said a couple was scammed out of a “significant” sum of cash.
The victims told police they were approached by a woman who claimed she had taken necklaces, rings and bracelets from her boyfriend and was hoping to escape an abusive relationship.
While the couple was doubtful at first, they put the jewellery through some tests and decided it was made of real gold.
But when they took it to an expert, it was found to be fake.
It was too late, however, since they had already exchanged it for cash.

She was with a 10-year-old boy in a black 2001 Mercedes, Crime Stoppers said.
A man was also with her. He is described as:

Last month, at least three people reported being scammed in similar circumstances in West Kelowna.
