A fisherman is going to think twice about using prohibited fishing hooks following an incident in the Okanagan on the weekend.
According to the BC Conservation Officer Service, an angler was served a ticket and a written warning for using a barbed hook in the Okanagan River.
For those wondering, it is an offense to use barbed hooks in any stream or river across the province.
In addition to the hooks, the fisherman was also punished for catching and retaining more than the aggregate daily quota for wild and hatchery rainbow trout.
All in all, the person was fined $150 for the incident that took place near Okanagan Falls.
The COS continues to increase personnel on lakes, rivers and streams. Residents are urged to be prepared so they don't have to deal with similar situations.
