On Wednesday, the BC River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) ended a flood watch for many parts of the BC Interior, including the Okanagan.
The flood watch was issued on Monday for creeks and rivers in Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton and surrounding areas.
A high streamflow advisory was also ended for the Similkameen, including the Ashnola and Tulameen rivers.
The Nicola and Coldwater rivers near Merritt have also been removed from a high streamflow advisory.
“The low-pressure system that impacted the BC central interior over the past few days has moved on. Warmer and drier conditions are anticipated through the rest of this week,” says the BCRFC.
“In most areas, flood hazards have diminished as snowmelt and rainfall runoff has eased.”
The centre says most rivers in the Okanagan, Similkameen and Nicola regions have reached peak levels and are beginning to recede.
Although river levels are going down, the public are still advised to stay away from unstable river and creek banks or fast-flowing bodies of water.
