Penticton Search and Rescue (PENSAR) were tasked with a high angle rescue earlier this week in Summerland.
According to the RCMP, they received several calls on Tuesday about a German Shepherd that was stuck in Trout Creek Canyon.
The high and fast waters were preventing the dog from getting to safety.
When Police arrived, the dog was located below the KVR Trestle in Summerland and had made his way onto a rock ledge.
The dog had been stuck on the ledge overnight, so a request was made for PENSAR to assist in a high angle rescue.
A team of SAR attended the scene, assisted by Summerland Fire and BC Ambulance.
A SAR member made their way down by rope to the anxious dog who was harnessed and returned up the cliff to safety and his family.
The dog appeared to be in good spirits, with no injuries.
"The RCMP would like to thank Penticton SAR crew as well as Summerland Fire and BC Ambulance for their dedication and reuniting this family member," said the police.
