Landslide closes portion of Kettle Valley Rail Trail

Residents looking to use the Kettle Valley Rail Trail this week may be in for a bit of slippery surprise. 

According to the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Emergency Operations Centre, a landslide near Shinish Creek Road has a portion of the trail closed. The incident was first reported just after 7 am on Saturday.

The slide occurred near the intersection of Shinish Creek Road and Hwy 40 Princeton Summerland Road, in Electoral Area H. 

Debris washed out a section of the KVR Trail, which will be closed until further notice. Crews have placed signs in the area to warn hikers of the impending debris. 

The damaged section of the trail is approximately 70 metres in length. Crews will be assessing the damaged section over the next few days.
