According to Fire Chief Cliff Vetter, crews responded to the blaze around 5:15 p.m. at the site of South Enderby Boards where they used three tender trucks to get water on the blaze.

The building was comprised of two old school houses holding log furniture that provided plenty of fuel for the fire.

Luckily, company employees had all left the site by 4:30 p.m. and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

(Original Story) - Several witnesses reported seeing a large building fire on the side of the highway, south of Enderby, Monday evening.

Nicki Furlong, passerby who spotted the blaze, identified the building as a sawmill outside the city, towards Vernon.

Other witnesses posted on Facebook, also stating it was a sawmill beyond city limits, accompanying their accounts with photos depicting heavy smoke billowing from a building on the edge of a Highway 97A.

A volunteer firefighter on-site confirmed there was a fire to the south of the city, beyond city limits, but was unable to disclose which building or buildings were affected by the fire.

The fire has since been extinguished and at publishing time firefighters were on scene conducting a clean-up of the area.

NowMedia has reached out to the Enderby Fire Department for more information on the fire.
