A new bus route between Penticton and Kelowna will launch at the beginning of next month.
Route 70, developed by BC Transit and the Regional District of South Okanagan-Similkameen, will start on September 3.
It was approved in April.
The route will provide a direct route to Kelowna from Penticton and Summerland.
There will be two round trips every weekday “at commuter times,” BC Transit said.
On Mondays, there will be two extra midday trips to improve connections to other cities in the area.
It will cost passengers $5 for each trip.
Meanwhile, the 60 Kelowna/Osoyoos via Penticton route – which currently runs on Mondays – will be discontinued.
Two round trips will be added to the 40 Osoyoos/Penticton route on Mondays.
BC Transit said this was achieved by reallocating the by-request service to Summerland on the 40, for which there was little demand.
The 50 Penticton/Route will also be adjusted to integrate with the 70 Penticton/Kelowna.
For the 40 Osoyoos/Penticton, there will be a fixed route in Penticton and Oliver and the by-request stop in Kaleden will be moved to the fire hall.
