The 29-year-old was lying on the side of the road beside the dirt bike, which wasn’t licensed for street operation.

According to police, the man wasn't wearing a helmet as he travelled down Springfield Road and lost control near the Park Lane intersection.

He slid off the road and struck his head.

“The man lived in the area and the dirt bike did not have a headlight for night time operation,” said Cpl. Tania Finn.

The BC Coroner’s Service and North Okanagan RCMP continue to investigate the incident to determine if speed or alcohol were factors.

There’s no indication that another vehicle was involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cst. Sean Stevenson of the North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.
