It’s been a tough year for Melissa Gosse, but she’s not taking it sitting down.

In fact, she’s doing quite the opposite, as the Kelowna woman plans to run 100 kilometres from Vernon to Penticton to raise money for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

“Going through a traumatic car accident, losing a friend to suicide and being tested to the next level in multiple areas of life, reminded me once again about the utter importance of mental health,” she explains.

“I know I am not the only one that has whispered to themselves more than once ‘just keep swimming.’”

Gosse hasn’t picked a specific date for her run yet, but she does know one thing.

“All the money raised for this run will be going to the CMHA,” she says.

“Whether you've been affected directly or indirectly this year by the vast changes - know you are not alone and there is lots of support out there, the great organization above being one of them.”

Gosse is raising money through a GoFundMe campaign and has currently collected just under $1,000 towards her $1,500 goal.
