Mounties are investigating after over $250,000 of property was stolen from a storage lot in Penticton.

Much of it is lighting equipment used in the film industry.

It was stolen from the victim, who is not local to the area, between Saturday and Monday.

A neighbour raised the alarm after noticing the property’s gate open.

The storage lot is at 2723 Green Mountain Road.

When the owner returned to the lot and confirmed the theft, he noticed a large pickup truck nearby.

The truck’s lights were turned on and it sped off, though the victim did manage to get its licence plate down.

It was later found parked in Okanagan Falls with no driver and no stolen property inside.

Police seized it for further investigation.

Among the items stolen were several black plastic totes with yellow lids, red lighting gear, power supplies, LED boards, DMX four channels, an ATM machine and a drop safe.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Penticton RCMP or Crime Stoppers on 1-800-222-8477.
