The Lake Country Coffee House has a new owner.

Sarah Thompson and Chris Barker announced in social media post that March 15 was their last day as owners of the Lake Country coffee shop.

“As the fourth owners of this special community coffee shop, we hope that we continued to provide a place that made you feel comfortable to visit, excited to bring your family and friends to, had you look forward to eat at, and simply felt like a second home for you,” they wrote.

Thompson and Barker took ownership four years ago, and they are proud of themselves for being able to keep the coffee on despite the many challenges they faced throughout the pandemic.

"It feels fulfilling for us to know that we've been a big part of carrying on the legend of the LCCH for our community," they said.

Over 13 years, the coffee shop has had several other owners including Jaquie and Neil, Carol and Sean, and Sharan.

Thompson and Barker said the business has also had "probably over 200 employees, people's first dates, business deals, people becoming new friends, people meeting old friends, weddings, parties, celebrations of life, life realizations, amazing creations, you name it.”

“We will never be able to know all of the ways that it has changed people's lives and created an imprint on them forever.”

While the married couple is ready to pass the torch, they will be helping around the shop for a little while longer.

“Please help support us once again by supporting the fifth owner of our special community gathering place,” they said. “He’s a cool guy with a lot of heart and a big vision to serve our creative community.”

“His name is Anu and let’s help him spread his wings.”
