Penticton Search and Rescue attended to an emergency call regarding an injured climber near Penticton on Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, PENSAR was contacted by the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre following a 911 call for emergency services.
PENSAR mobilized 12 personnel to rescue the injured 30-year-old climber from Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park.
According to Kelvin Hall, SAR Duty Manager, PENSAR dispatched two rescue trucks which were accompanied by ground teams and a three-person helicopter long-line evacuation team.
A pair of PENSAR members hiked into the bluffs to assist the 30-year-old woman who they suspected was suffering from a lower limb fracture.
The subject was airlifted out of the Skaha Bluffs area to an ambulance, which brought her to the Penticton Hospital for further medical care.
PENSAR’s rescue came within hours of the Provincial Government’s announcement of funding for Search and Rescue teams across the province.
