The waterfront in Peachland will be getting a new addition that hopes to add to the area’s tranquility.

The Peachland Pier Group has announced the construction of the waterfront pier alongside Heritage Park.

The Pier will be a 120-metre-long fixed structure running parallel to the Park. In addition to being the first of its kind on Okanagan Lake it will have the added benefit of being fully accessible.

“Accessibility is a vital ingredient for any liveable, enjoyable community,” Mayor Cindy Fortin said. “This pier will give everyone, including people in wheelchairs and walkers, a chance to better enjoy our beautiful lakeshore.”

Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 4 , 2018, with a completion date set for the end of October.

The new pier will hopefully give locals and visitors a destination to enjoy picnics, fish, relax, or take a romantic stroll along the waterfront and take in the stunning view.
