The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) is seeking volunteers to aid their Emergency Support Services (ESS) team.

The RDCO ESS team is putting a call out to volunteers in Peachland and Lake Country able to offer their time during disasters in the Okanagan and help their communities during times of need.

RDCO ESS provides short-term assistance to those who are forced to evacuate their homes due to natural disasters like fires and floods.

“Whether it’s one individual or thousands affected . . . by giving your talents and time, you can help your neighbours begin to recover following a local disaster,” said Carol Fazekas, RDCO ESS volunteer coordinator.

Volunteers would assist victims affected by disasters by providing food, clothing, lodging and family reunification if one were to occur.

Monthly meetings are held with speakers, as well as additional training and exercises to ensure volunteers are kept up-to-date on how to handle situations that may be encountered during volunteering.

If you’re interested in volunteering, contact the RDCO ESS team via email here.
