A snowboarder who was caught in an avalanche at SilverStar mountain resort has been left seriously hurt.

Nathan Fisher was snowboarding on a double black diamond run on Putnam Creek when an isothermal avalanche “let loose” behind him.

His friend, Tylor Williams, said the collapse “ended up catching and dragging him through the trees”.

He added: “The slide beat up Nate pretty bad, leaving him with a dislocated femur, broken ankle, multiple broken ribs, broken jaw, multiple bruises and cuts, a deep laceration to the throat, and more.”

Tylor said that Nathan “suffered no brain or spinal injuries” during the ordeal, while stressing “he still has a long way to go for recovery”.

Now Tylor has set up a GoFundMe page with the hope of raising $15,000 for Nathan.

As of Saturday, the fundraiser has already smashed its target and attracted more than $20,000 in donations.

Tylor explained: “Nathan is the most caring, loving, friendly human you will ever encounter. He is constantly looking out for others and trying to make everyone else's lives better. He stays positive in all situations and is the best human to be around!

“He has been through mental and physical trauma and we would love for him to come home without any financial trauma.”
