A Lake Country optometrist is out thousands of dollars after a smash and grab last week.

Around 4:30 am on Friday, Sept. 18, two thieves broke the front glass door of the business to get inside.

They then proceeded to smash a number of display cases and counters, filling garbage cans from the business with high-end sunglasses and prescription frames.

“The pair was in and out of the business in less than two minutes, but managed to leave with almost $30,000 in product,” said a release from Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers.

Brands stolen include Jimmy Choo, Smith, Ray-Ban, Tom Ford and Maui Jim, all of which cost a pretty penny.

“The larger suspect wore a newer green coat with a hood over his head and face, along with a blue surgical mask and a headlamp,” said the COCS release.

“The shorter suspect (possibly female) wore a black coat with (the) hood up and both suspects wore gloves.”

Anyone with information about this crime or these suspects is asked to call Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at 1-800-222-TIPS.
