While mischief is without a doubt part of Halloween’s magic, alleged thieves in the south Okanagan have disappointed the small community of Oliver.

According to Parmjeet Dhaliwal with Sunview Market, the business’s surveillance cameras show two people taking off with a prized pumpkin weighing over a hundred pounds on Sunday night.

“It's very rare, I just purchased the seed and it became a masterpiece,” explains Dhaliwal.

“We were amazed by the size, it's very sad to have it disappear because we wanted to keep it and carve it for Halloween.”

Dhaliwal says the business hasn’t contacted police, but wanted to warn the community because it’s the second time a large pumpkin has gone missing from the market.

Many Facebook users have commented on Dhaliwal’s post to the Oliver Loop page to express their disappointment in the alleged theft.
