Wind warning issued for the Okanagan Valley

Residents in the Okanagan Valley can expect some serious wind today. 

According to Environment Canada, northernly wind gusts between 50 and 70 km/h will stretch across Okanagan Lake this afternoon and early evening. Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton will all be hit with heavy winds. 

"A cold front will move across Okanagan Lake this afternoon bringing strong wind gusts through the Okanagan Valley," wrote EC. "Winds will become north 40 to 50 km/h with gusts up to 70 km/h this afternoon as the front moves through the region."

The strongest gusts are expected to occur near Peachland and Crescent Beach. Winds should cease some time this evening.
