Ted-Jan Bloemen has his second medal of the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, and this time it’s a gold.

The Dutch-born speed skater set an Olympic record on Thursday night en route to the gold medal in the 10,000 metre event.

His win comes four days after he claimed a silver medal in the 5,000m race.

The 31-year-old completed 27 laps of the Gangneug Oval in just 12:39.77, knocking 2.21 seconds off the previous Olympic record that was set only minutes earlier by Jorrit Bergsma of the Netherlands.

Bloemen was living in the Netherlands four years ago and was unable to find his way onto an Olympic speed skating team.

Shortly after the 2014 games in Sochi, Bloemen moved to Calgary and the rest is now history.

Bloemen wasn’t the only Canadian to push for a podium spot in Thursday’s 10,000m race.

Toronto’s Jordan Belchos had an impressive skate en route to a fifth place finish.

Both Belchos and Bloemen will be back in action in the 8-lap men’s team pursuit quarterfinal on Sunday at 3 a.m.
