A motorcyclist was injured after colliding with a deer close to Apex Mountain Resort on Sunday.

First on the scene were Mounties and firefighters, who waited with the patient until medics arrived.

The motorcyclist was then taken up to Apex, where a helicopter pad was set up to allow for an air lift.

“Today was a great example of why completed Rescue training and equipment for the department is an essential step we are working towards,” Apex Fire Chief Gabe Lavoie said.

“We are wishing this injured person a speedy recovery.”
