Peach Festival organizers call it the largest parade in the BC interior, and who are we to argue?
It's been three years since the most recent Peach Festival parade (technically known as the "Peter Bros. Grand Parade" in honour of its sponsor), and there was obviously some pent-up demand all around.
The parade was big -- bigger than usual. Or at least it seemed that way.
With a healthy allotment of floats, bands, dancers, gymnasts, musicians, associations, clowns and championship-winning hockey teams (Vees), candy giver-awayers, and more, including a ton of representation from Washington State, the procession seemed endless.
It seemed extra long if you experienced it toward the end of the route where two or three huge gaps convinced some folks the thing was over and it was time to head home.
But if the parade was mega-sized for the 75th anniversary of the event, so too was the crowd.
From PentictonNow's multiple vantage points along Lakeshore Drive, on-site viewership seemed far more dense than in most years.
Even the beach-side sidewalk was packed.
And we can't go without mentioning all the royalty in attendance.
The Festival went looking for former Miss Pentictons and Princesses in late 2020.
It found a lot of them, and scattered them in a wide variety of convertibles throughout the parade.
It was a great addition that elicted even more cheers from an already charged-up crowd.
