PentictonNow spent a bunch of time at this year's Peach Festival.
And who could blame us? It's been three years since the last one. And all the entertainment is free. What a deal.
We were all over the place on an exceptional Day 1, covering stuff like the peach bin races, motocross, the Canadian Forces Skyhawks Parachute team, and two legendary Canadian bands -- Prism and Honeymoon Suite.

We positioned ourselves on Lakeshore Drive Saturday morning for the Peter Bros. Grand Parade, made all the grander with the return of dozens of former Miss Pentictons and princesses.

And on the final day, we woke up extra early to spend the morning, and some of the afternoon, with the athletes of the 11.8-kilometer Skaha Lake Ultra Swim.

But we went a little music crazy on the weekend too, starting with Friday's RE/MAX Tribute Night.
First up was Vancouver Island-based Eagles tribute act Eagle Eyes, a band that kept an appreciative audience riveted with impeccable harmonies and a peaceful easy vibe. Peaceful that is until they start pulling out the rockers and especially when band veteran Ray Harvey went all Joe Walsh on everyone.
Following Eagle Eyes was Ontario's Simply Queen with a sound, a show, and a certain dramatic flair that immediately altered the ambience. The set was eerily reminicent of Freddie Mercury, Brian May et al, and the extra-large audience was there for it.
We skipped Saturday night's Powder Blues Band and Glass Tiger because we had a 5 am alarm for the Ultra Swim, but came back psyched for Sunday's finale, Ben Waters.
The crowd was noticably smaller on the final night of the festival, but no less invested in the British boogie-woogie pianist and vocalist who calls Penticton his second home.
Waters, who's played with a who's-who of rock royalty over the years, has built a super-talented band around him and delivered a strong show that kept peeps of all ages dancing.
Now we wait to see what Peach Fest 2023 will bring. We'll have details as they become available.
