The Penticton Curling Club has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and has closed its doors until at least Monday, Nov. 30.
News came down Tuesday evening during men's league play that a club member in the men’s senior league had tested positive.
Tuesday was the final night of curling, with all league play and junior curling suspended until at least next week.
“As of right now the Penticton Curling Club regrets to inform you that one of our Senior Men's League members has tested positive for Covid and we are choosing to be proactive while waiting to hear from Interior Health, so we will be closing the club until Monday Nov. 30, unless Interior Health says differently,” offered club manager Chris Jones through an email to club members. “We will keep you posted to what Interior Health says and if any of you are showing any symptoms please see your doctor and get tested. Thanks for everything you have all tried to do, and let's hope we can get back to curling soon.”
In another email to members, Jones indicated the process had begun with regard to contacting those who may have been affected.
“Interior Health has advised us that we reach out to anyone who was within six feet and longer than 15 minutes and within 48 hours of symptoms starting,” advised Jones. “I will confirm when the symptoms started and it may be after league play was finished.”
