After a Penticton resident asked for help recovering some stolen property, the community came through.
Yesterday at 7:55 a.m., the Penticton RCMP received a report of a bicycle trailer being stolen from a Dynes Avenue address in Penticton.
The trailer was chained up by the front door of the residence, and is used to transport the owners dogs, who work as therapy animals.
"The trailer is not just for fun. I have two dogs, Ashes and Bran, that I had this trailer specially made for," said the dog's owner. "13-year-old Ash is a retired therapy dog who has, through the years, brought much joy and comfort to people, especially to elementary school children in reading programs.”
Thanks to people in the community helping out, the specially made bike and trailer have been returned the owner. The RCMP says that the trailer was found in the 200 block of Moan Street.
“I am profoundly grateful,” said the owner when Cst. Ian Wolchok returned the bike trailer.
"It's files like this that make me want to come back to work tomorrow," said Wolchok.
Several suspects were questioned in the vicinity and the matter remains under investigation.
