A Canadian Broadway musical is touring Canada, and will be stopping in Penticton this September.

Based on a remarkable true story, COME FROM AWAY is set in Gander, Newfoundland and is based on actual events that took place on September 11, 2001 and the days that followed.

As the story goes, 7,000 stranded passengers end up in the small town in Newfoundland.

Cultures clash and nerves run high, but uneasiness turns into trust, music soars into the night, and gratitude grows into enduring friendships. On September 11, 2001 the world stopped. On September 12, their stories moved us all.

Charles McNulty of the Los Angeles Times called the show “An affecting, stirring and unpretentious new musical.”

The show will make its Penticton debut at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) for two nights only on September 24 and 25, 2024.

Tickets are on sale May 31, 2024 at 10 am PT. Purchase them online here, or in person at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC.

Penticton will be the only market in the whole Okanagan region where COME FROM AWAY will be playing so don’t miss out on your chance to see this masterpiece!

With book, music and lyrics by Olivier, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winners and Grammy and two-time Tony Award nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, COME FROM AWAY promises to wow audiences across the country.

It is directed by Tony Award winner and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Christopher Ashley, with musical staging by Olivier Award winner and two-time Tony Award nominee Kelly Devine, and music supervision by Olivier Award winner and Grammy Award nominee Ian Eisendrath.
