Firefighters were called to an early morning fire on Sunday, but were curious to find that no one was home.
The Oliver Fire Department (OFD) was called out at around 2:30 a.m. for a structure fire at 555 Earle Crescent. Four fire trucks and approximately 20 firefighters arrived to a vacant house wrapped in flames.
Bob Graham, fire chief with the Oliver Fire Department, said the cause is under investigation because no one was home at the time.
"Vacant houses usually don't start on fire . . . it's under investigation because there is no obvious reason for it to start. Nobody's living there," he said.
"Usually fires start in houses with people that are cooking, or smoking, or doing something."
Despite being a "fully involved" fire, Graham said they were able to knock it down quickly and efficiently, adding that the house is still "a very sound structure."
