Alice the purebred doberman, who garnered impressive community support over the summer, is almost ready for foster care.

The three-year-old pup was brought to the BC SPCA Kelowna branch back in August, suffering from a ruptured cruciate and torn meniscus which requires tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy (TPLO) surgery.

Thanks to the overwhelming financial support from our city, Alice is able to get the medical attention she needs to be able to walk again.

Once she gets her surgery, Alice will need an attentive foster family to help her through the recovery process for a minimum of eight weeks.

To help find her perfect paw-rents the Kelowna branch is making a call out to the community, hoping to find a great fit in a home where she can be the only pet and be a top priority!

“[She] loves cuddles and is most relaxed when she’s around people,” says SPCA Kelowna branch manager Sean Hogan.

Horgan also mentioned that Alice enjoys playing outside and going for walks, though she may not be eager to until she is fully recovered.

She takes her time fluffing up her bed with her paws before settling in and likes to ‘smile' at everyone she knows.

Ideal candidates will be able to regularly communicate with branch staff, stay up to date with veterinary appointments, as well as physically assist Alice with movement and bathroom needs for the first few days following her surgery.

If you are ready to love and rehabilitate Alice, contact the BC SPCA Kelowna Branch at (250) 861-7722.
