Typically when April hits, Kelowna’s streets are buzzing with activity both day and night.
Obviously, that’s not the case right now as people are staying home for the most part, doing their part to self-isolate and practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
You’ll see the odd person out walking their dog and getting any essential chores or grocery runs done during the day, but for the most part, the streets are quite empty.
Once the sun goes down, the streets become even quieter, which is a positive thing, but a far cry from the usual bustling Kelowna nightlife during the spring.
Local photographer Landon Hemmes took to the streets to document the ghost town feel at 9 pm, although it might as well be 3 am.
Hemmes' work shows that people are doing their part and, as Premier John Horgan stressed during his Tuesday night address, doing our part today will affect what our healthcare workers have to face in the days and weeks ahead.
