PHOTOS: The Northern Lights fought through the clouds in the Okanagan last night

Aurora activity is currently high and as a result, the Northern Lights were visible throughout much of Canada and the northern part of the United States on Thursday night.

Unfortunately, seeing them is not always that simple, as you need a fairly clear night to witness the incredible showcase in the sky.

That was not the case for most of the Okanagan on a cloudy Thursday night, but that didn’t stop people from heading outdoors to try and catch a glimpse of the phenomenon.

In the North Okanagan, the sky was clear enough for aurora borealis to put on quite the show, but it was a little cloudier in the Central Okanagan and south of that.

However, Roman Bartos, who wowed us with some shots of the incredible Northern Lights display in late February, still managed to capture some fantastic shots through the clouds.

Aurora activity is still expected to be very high for the next two nights, with Friday night being the climax, so hopefully Mother Nature behaves and we get some clear skies to see them.
