Second Slumber pitched its innovative business model to six well-known “Dragons" who are looking for investments to scale up. Second Slumber’s CEO and Founder, Scott Amis said it was a thrill to pitch the Dragons and fulfill a bucket-list dream.

“When Rick (Maddison) and I walked onto the set it was pretty surreal. There are cameras everywhere. Lights shining in your eyes, and people you have only seen on TV, are staring back at you.

It would be a tough setting for most, but we practiced our pitch hundreds of times and had friends tear it apart so we felt ready. There are lots of entertaining moments that I think people will appreciate as the Dragons were in kind of a goofy mood.”

Dragon's Den is a Canadian reality show where entrepreneurs pitch their businesses to a panel of investors. The show has been running for 17 years and is one of the top-rated shows in Canada.

CBC says roughly 1000 businesses apply every year to be on the show and only 50 make it to air.

Second Slumber has partnered with Okanagan College to host a very special premiere party in the evening of Nov. 3. Scott and Rick don’t have any idea of what CBC will use from the 45-minute pitch they did in May 2022.

Second Slumbers Rick Maddison says, "We are thrilled to have the event hosted at Okanagan College and see what our pitch looks like for the first time. Many of our Second Slumber staff are current students or alumni, and prior to Second Slumber I was teaching marketing at OC. So it's a special place for our scrappy and kind company. We can’t wait to party with all those who supported us, and continue to do so. "

All money raised from this premiere party night (which includes Lakehouse Chef-inspired canapés, Sandhill wine pairings and craft beers from Big White Brewing goes towards the mental wellness of students.
