Women’s Volleyball – For the second weekend in a row the UBC Okanagan Heat women’s volleyball team earned a split. This weekend, however, the team was playing on the road. The new to Canada West Heat and the newer to Canada West Mount Royal Cougars each won a match on Kenyon Court in Calgary. Friday night the Heat needed four sets to get by the Cougars (25-19, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21), but on Saturday the Cougars came back from 0-2 to knock off UBC Okanagan in five sets (21-25, 22-25, 25-21, 27-25, 15-11).

This weekend will be the toughest task so far in the young season for the 4-2 Heat as they host the No. 6 in Canada: the 4-1 Manitoba Bisons.

Last weekend the Bisons were also on the road, where they were able to come away from Brandon University with a split over the Bobcats.

The games this weekend are at 6 p.m. Friday night and at 5 p.m. on Saturday night; both matches will be in the gym at UBC’s Okanagan campus in Kelowna, BC.

Admission is free for UBC students with Student ID and for children under 12. Adults are $5 and just $3 for youth, seniors and visiting students.

Live webcasts of both Friday and Saturday’s matches will be on ubco.canadawest.tv
