Semi on Fire Could Cause Delays on Coquihalla

Update 12:30 p.m.: The recovery has been completed, and all lanes are now clear.

Update 10:45 a.m.: The right lane on the Coquihalla south of Merritt has been closed for recovery.

A fire south of Merritt could cause delays for travellers on Monday.

A semi is on fire on the Coquihall, about 10 km south of Merritt, near the Comstock exit 276. The semi is in the southbound lane and emergency crews are responding to the scene. DriveBC warns travellers that there could be possible delays due to the fire.

There is no word yet on what may have caused the semi to start on fire.
