Police Investigating Homicide in Whistler Hotel

Update 10:30 a.m.: Whistler RCMP have notified the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIOBC) about the hotel death.

On Tuesday morning, Whistler RCMP responded to the hotel for a complaint involving an adult male. When they arrived, the found the male unresponsive and in medical distress. First aid was administered, and the man was later pronounced deat at hospital.

Because the police were there, BC's police watchdog IIOBC has been notified.

An investigation has begun for a death in a Whistler hotel early Tuesday morning.

On January 20th at around 3 a.m., Whistler RCMP were called to a hotel to investigate a death. Since the investigation is still in its early stages, the only information that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has available is that one person is dead as a result of an altercation in the hotel.

IHIT says that the death was not a targeted attack, but that the public is not at risk in relation to the incident.
