VPD Officer Arrested For Domestic Assault and Unlawful Confinement

An off duty Vancouver Police officer has been arrested and is alleged to have assaulted and unlawfully confined a woman in Maple Ridge.

The Vancouver Police Department notified the public about the arrest Wednesday afternoon stating that the officer had been a member of the force for 10 years. On the afternoon of January 23rd, 2015 a woman visited the Ridge Meadows RCMP Detachment to report she had been the victim of a domestic related assault.

On Friday night, Ridge Meadows RCMP members visited the officer’s home and arrested him. He has since been removed from frontline duties pending the results of the investigation. The incident is now being handled by the Ridge Meadows RCMP and no names have been released.
